GOLDEN CARE
We hope you enjoy our site as you take a look at CHRIS Ti Golden Retriever's past, present and "up and coming" goldens. We are proud of our babies and how beautiful they are, but more importantly we strive for healthy English Style Goldens with the conformation, soundness, and laid back disposition typical of the Golden Retriever Breed Standard. Please let us know if you have any questions or if you're interested in one of our puppies, we would be glad to talk with you any time.

Nutrition & Feeding: CHRIS Ti Goldens believes good nutrition is very important as your Golden Retriever grows from puppy to senior. When our puppies leave our home they are on a good quality food that we recommend you continue using. We like you to keep in touch as your puppy develops to make sure your puppy is not growing too quickly. And at some point we may recommend switching to an alternative food. CHRIS Ti Golden Retrievers supplement their Goldens' food with the following: Glycoflex, NuVet Plus, and 1000 mg of Vitamin C daily. (see Gold Nuggets Page for more information on diet supplements)
Coat & Grooming: Golden Retrievers shed seasonally and need regular brushing as part of their daily grooming. CHRIS Ti Golden Retrievers also give our goldens a tablespoon of Organic Coconut Oil or Wild Alaskan Salmon Oil once a day with a meal alternating between the two - one day coconut oil - the next salmon oil.
Exercise: Golden Retrievers do best with daily exercise and a regular schedule. It's fun for you and your golden child if you mix it up! CHRIS Ti Golden Retrievers recommend swimming, playing Chuckit with 3" (Large) oversized balls, going on short walks and free play (playing with your pup off-leash allows him to walk away and lie down when he gets tired.) When swimming at the pool or the beach, pup should be in chest high water so the force of the water works against their bodies to develop muscle tone - at the beach throw the ball parallel to the shoreline. We don't believe puppies should go on long walks until they are 18 months old because their growth plates are still forming. And please remember to always have clean fresh water available - especially in warm weather.
Training: At 16 weeks old, your golden should participate in an obedience class. You will both have fun achieving your CGC (Canine Good Citizen) and your TDI (Therapy Dog International) titles to become a community member of service dogs.
Health: We've come a long way in the past several years and a lot of problems can be screened prior to breeding and dedicated, responsible breeders like CHRIS Ti Goldens do this. [CHRIS Ti Golden Retrievers test for hip dysplasia and elbow dysplasia through the OFA (Orthopedic Foundation Association.) We use a cardiologist to check the heart for sub-aortic stenosis and other hereditary heart diseases. Our pups visit an ophthalmologist for their eye clearances to check for cataracts and eye problems. And CHRIS Ti tests for five genetic diseases (PRCD, PRA GR-PRA1 & GR-PRA2, Degenerative Myelopathy, and Ichthyosis.)]

Golden Retrievers are people-oriented and very social.
If you expect your dog to live in the yard, please don't get a Golden.
Loneliness and boredom will lead to barking, digging and other undesirable behaviors.
Your Golden Retriever needs to live indoors as part of your family.
